Individual Art Therapy in Los Angeles, CA
Healing doesn't always look like talking. Art therapy meets you where words fall short, using creative expression to help you understand yourself, process what you've been through, and build toward something new. Create your own path to healing through individual art therapy in Los Angeles, CA.
Research shows that even less than an hour of creative expression can reduce stress and positively impact mental health. Indeed, expressing ourselves nonverbally by using other creative approaches can help achieve personal and relational therapeutic goals.
Through various creative outlets, we can express ourselves in ways we may not otherwise be able to, and even offer us new ways of relating to ourselves and others.

How Art Therapy Can Help You
Art therapy can be used on its own or in combination with other therapeutic approaches, including talk therapy, EMDR, or somatic work. What makes it different is the way it helps you access and express what words often can’t reach.
In sessions, you might begin to notice patterns in what you create, feelings that surprise you, or a sense of relief that comes simply from making something. All of this becomes material we can explore together.
Working with an art therapist can support you in several meaningful ways:
Processing trauma
Art therapy can bypass the verbal mind and access stored memories and emotions.
Reducing anxiety
The creative process can help calm the nervous system in real time.
Building self-awareness
What you create often reflects thoughts and feelings that haven’t yet been put into words.
Communicating differently
It offers another way to express yourself when speaking feels difficult or draining.
Through art therapy in Los Angeles, CA, we’ll work toward a deeper understanding of yourself so you can heal with strength and authenticity.
Holistic Art Therapy in Los Angeles, CA—How It Works
We take a holistic approach to treatment, honoring you as a whole person—mind, body, and spirit. As such, art therapy can be used by itself or in combination with other therapeutic modalities—we tailor each process to your individual needs, goals, and emotional experiences.
Art therapy promotes mental well-being and healing through creative expression. By encouraging self-expression, it fosters deeper self-reflection and the development of effective coping skills.
As you create art, you can explore what you’ve made and the feelings it evokes. In doing so, we can begin identifying themes and internal sources of tension that may be contributing to your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
Common Art Therapy Techniques
Art therapy can take many forms, including:
Drawing
Collage
Painting or finger painting
Sculpting
Photography
Claywork
Writing
… but we can make art and express ourselves through anything!

I believe in the power of creativity to allow us access to healing and transform our relationships with those in our lives and within ourselves. As an Art Therapist by training, I am able to offer us alternative ways to explore healing through a range of creative, expressive, and artistic practices.
Creative expression is an ancient and deeply human form of healing and communication, and allows for new ways to find spaciousness for our underlying experiences and emotional needs, support self-discovery, and heal from our trauma.
I am a third-generation therapist, have forever been an artist, and earned a dual Masters in Clinical Counseling & Art Therapy from Southwestern College & New Earth Institute. I enjoy working with people in all stages of healing, growth, and change, and find this work to be deeply meaningful and engaging.
I’m working toward licensure under the supervision of Sarah Callender, LCSW, Miranda Kent-Handelsman, LMFT, and Jennifer Albright Knash, ATR-BC 123-36.
